1.Westchester County School Music Organization:
3.Elementary All-County String Orchestra Audition (grades 4-5)
- 1 two- octave scale and 2 one-octave scales
- Etling: Haydn 'Melodies' from Solo Time for Strings Book III
- OR
- Applebaum, Rigaudon from Progressive Solos for String Instruments
4.Junior All- County String Ochestra Auditions (grades 6-7)
- 2 two-octave scales and 5 one-octave scales
- Schubert/Etling: Ballet Music from Solo Time for Strings-Cello, Book III
5.Intermediate All-County Orchestra (grades 8-9)
- Students are selected by the NYSSMA scores form the previous year.
- Level 5 & 6 are considered the same level.
NYSSMA evaluations/auditions take place in the spring.The audition includes a piece chosen with a teachers guidance, plus scales and sight-reading . There are 6 levels of progressive difficulty.
NYSSMA scores of 8th, 9th, and 10th graders determine participation in All County Orchestra.
NYSSMA scores of 10th and 11th graders (level 6) determine participation in All State Orchestra.
Elementary Students have a separate All County Elementary audition and also are welcome to play a NYSSMA audition.
